You say you understand
What it is to be in pain
You say you understand
What it is to be tired
But you dont understand
You dont understand what its like
Being so tired you cant sleep
Being in so much pain you cant move
To lay on the floor
But not crying or letting on
You dont understand
You say you understand
What it is like being sad
You say you understand
What it is like to take medications
But you dont understand
You just dont understand what it is like
To have lost who you were
To be told its in your head
Being stuck in a different world
Being on so many medications that make you better
But living with the side effects
When panadol does nothing
You just dont understand
You say you understand
What it is like to be overwhelmed
You say you understand
What it is like to rely on people
But the truth is you dont understand
What it is like to want to sleep
Until the busy times pass
You dont understand
What it is like to say yes
But meaning no
How hard it is to ask for help
What it is like to need people 24/7
The truth is you dont understand
You dont understand
The anguish and fear
The frustration and anger
The highs and the lows
You dont know what it is like
To not remember what it felt like
Not to be in pain
You dont know what it is like
To be stared at because of a brace
To be told your too young
You couldnt understand

((Do you ever get really mad when you're suffering and someone will say, "Well, on the bright side..."? I mean, gosh darn it, I know there's a bright side, and I'll find it in my own darn time, so "back the heck of and stop pretending like this all isn't so bad!" ya know?))

"What did you spill now, Alex?"
"Oh don't worry, just my blood."

"So, Kyle, how's the weather?"

On the other hand, sometimes when people show too much sympathy outwardly, it's aggravating. If they're handling it worse than the one who's actually dealing with it first-hand, it's incredibly annoying.

Wow, I'd never heard of it that way! I've explained my disease to others in a similar way, but she did it very well with her spoons
