You only see
The mask and act
All the things I want you to see
The smile
The laugh
The make up
The happy, superficial me
If by chance you look closer

You see the truth
The odd shaped fingers
The brace on the knee
The tear in the eye
Covered by a smile
If you really saw everything
You would see
All the little things
The awkward movements
The unsure walk
The balance which is shot
But I only want you
To see the good things
The normal things
The fake things
One day I will be alright

I will take on the world
Have it fall at my feet
Despite the brace on my knee
The pain in my hands
And the pills in my bag
